Summer Solstice

We rang in the first day of summer with the Summer Solstice Jazz Festival in East Lansing last night (bet you can't guess what the youngest wore). And now, I'm off to work. So, go enjoy Summer today, in honor of me...drink lemonade. set up a slip and slide. do cannonballs in the pool. buy popsicles. wear flip flops...

...and her mother was superlative for letting her wear what she chose. We had friends in Key West who had a little girl--her name was also Savannah. They were very artsy people and one night, we went to an exclusive book-signing party she was invited to. Just before we were to leave, Savannah came down the stairs of their incredible home, with the outfit she had chosen, which included a bright colored skirt worn on her head like a nun's habit. Our friend said, "Don't you look lovely!" and off we went. I was very, very impressed. And she wore it all evening. I am sure little Savannah is making her mark in the world today and not just blending in.

Carolyn's party was clearly missing something...bright colored cupcakes that taste like chemicals. Too bad!

Your girls are so lucky to be growing up in an area with so much to do; so much culture! Poor Cade only has Aquatots and story hour at the library to look forward to.
