Early yesterday morning, our Savannah Joy left for
Naples, Florida, unaccompanied. Here she is removing the last day
off the little countdown she made last week.
You can tell she's a little apprehensive by her nervous smile...
There were actually four unaccompanied minors on her flight,
all of them girls right around her age!
Getting ready to take off...
And away she goes! We'll miss you, Savannah Joy!

I wish I was going with her! Love Naples!
did you cry??? when libby flew home. i was "all business" and then, all of a sudden, big rush of tears and fear.....
when i flew home from cape cod there were UM's EVERYWHERE...lots being sent across the country to month long summer camps.
Wow! All by herself??? She'll have a great time!!

oooooh I just got butterflies! was that hard or what?
she looks so precious! pretty neat their were four other unaccompanied kiddos on the plane!
what are you going to do... no kiddos in the house?
I got a little teary eyed as I walked out to my car, but it wasn't bad. It helped knowing there were other unaccompanied minors right with her (they switched seats around so they could sit together!)
How cool.....I bet she felt all grown up! She is going to have a great time and I'm sure her aunt can't wait until she gets there!
Enjoy getting things ready at your house!
Don't worry, we will take good care of her down here.
I'm leaving in 5 min to pick Katie up from dance, and deliver her to Kelle's. Her bag is already packed in my backseat (and I peeked inside to find...what else...the tub of green face mask mud)
They are going to have a blast!!
Enjoy your time!

PS...looove the countdown picture...that is SO something Kate would do...no wonder they are kindred spirits!! :))
once again, I am comforted by your words, jen. thank you for taking such good care of her :o)
She looks like a junior high school girl! When I call the house now and she answers, I can hear such a difference in her voice...and she is such a sweet and genuine kid. I am so proud of her and so happy she could have a summer adventure!!
I met your little Savannah today at Kelle's. (I met you last year for Kelle's Birthday, and I your blog inspired me and many others here to make shadown boxes for our babies.) She is an angel. As we had a house full of babies, lunch, and making bows/hats, she was amazing. I couldn't believe she is only 10 years old. You have a wonderful little girl, and I'm honored to have met her today.
Wow - you are a brave mommy! But I'm sure she feels SO independent and proud of herself now... steps like that are so critical (esp for girls).
That's great! I'm sure she's having a great time!
What an amazing memory you've allowed her to create.
Good Mom Award!!!
Aw, this post made me happy and sad at the same time, like when you go to camp or something :)
