Sitting here at my laptop, with a hot cup of mint chamomile,
feeling content and fulfilled. once a month, I have the luxury
of a three day weekend off. as it approaches, it is not uncommon
for me to begin forming ridiculous lists of all I plan to accomplish
in those three precious days. the expectations get high, I overwhelm
myself and before I know it, the weekend is over. and then there
are weekends like this last one. taking pictures of Lana's vow renewal.
bagels Saturday morning. going to our first Michigan state game

Saturday afternoon (thank you, Brandon, Jennifer, and Lauren!)...
cooking together Saturday evening. church on Sunday - one of
those times when people mill around talking afterwards and no
one seems to want to leave. home alone on Monday. and in
between all that, I putzed in my house which is one of my favorite
things in the whole world. I rearranged. painted. thrifted. basically,
came alive. stuff i was unmotivated to do in our apartment. and now
our space is feeling bright and playful and creative and just...happy.

Hahaha, I KNEW that orange hippo was from my mom even before I read it :) I love all of your decorating! You are so creative and artisitic. And that is awesome about the 3 day weekend - woohoo!!! :)
love that you just get up and do it! that is the hardest part i think.
I want to get motivated just to do laundry while you are painting boards with inspiring messages on them-all in bright cheery colors...YOU ARE MY HERO. Love the way it is all coming together:)

thriftly beautiful, rich and thoughtful innovation, warmly creative...thanks for the tour...I could live there, happily.
you never fail to amaze me with your projects. i wish i had 1/10 of your creativity and ability. i also wish you lived down the street so you could come over and do that stuff at my house.
It looks awesome! Leave it to you to be able to be so creative with lanlord rules!

Oh my gosh Carin! I wish I was as artistic as you. Your house looks awesome as usual...miss you.
Your home is beautiful.... you really have a knack for decorating and making "everyday" stuff very special. (I'm envious of that!)
I'm glad you put the Never Ending List aside and had time to putz... we women need to do that... we're always Doing-Doing-Doing.... :-)
God bless you and your beautiful family! :-)
Your home is just so lovely and inspiring! Love these pics.
Oh Carin, I love you!
Now just freeze for a second and remember how you feel RIGHT NOW - when you "putzed" and did your creative thang and hopefully shoved a bunch of dirty laundry in a closet for another time. This is how you want to feel, right? So now you know how to treat yourself next three day weekend. Peace and love!

It looks fabulous, better than a magazine!
YOu are one smart (creative) cookie!
