day 9. September, I greet thee.

Photobucket

"The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive,
Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts
Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze."

I came upon your blog through Kelle's blog, and I have to say that you both write so well and are so relatable. I am hooked!! I really hope that didn't sound too stalkerish or creepy...LOL!!

I heard Dorothy Cordelia Gates whisper "Ohhh" on her walk home from school when I saw the picture and read the poem.
