I had to give an "entertaining speech" yesterday, a departure from my typical introspective, I have a dream speech. It was about The Sat. I thought it was funny. I even had a Powerpoint presentation with pictures. I was anticipating raucous laughter. Heads back, mouths open, hands slapping knees. I was confident it was in the bag. Done deal.
No one laughed.
Blank stares.
It was so awkward I started laughing in the middle of it.
Still,
No laughter.
Complete fail.

I am laughing so hard right now!! Dude, this makes the whole presentation even funnier...the fact that you laughed and no one else did? That's sheer genius right there. You likely frightened them, which I love. You fierce creature, you. Where was the speech? Convention of Audi owners? Also, your last post on "cray"...made me laugh. I, like Hazel, thought immediately of crayfish, although I'm suspecting it's like "I'm feeling soooooo craaazy right now that I've dropped the z and I dare you to challenge me on it." I like it. I'm going to start using it. And for the record, I'd come eat noodles with you anyday, just to listen to you. Your daughters sound like gems - I think they get that spark from you. And I'd also bet that when they thank God each night for their blessings, they start by thanking him for you.
I'm laughing. Next time give a speech about the speech you gave about the Sat. Funny shit.

I wouldn't say you failed. I would say the audience didn't get your sense of humor. It happens. Happened all the time to Andy Kaufman.
