for my sister

Photobucket

Photobucket

she's flying from sunny florida up to snowy michigan today.
we're meeting up tomorrow night in Grand Blanc.
what else is in grand blanc, besides our hotel, you ask?
why, that would be Oliver T's...a europeanish market with fine wines,
imported beer, superior meats and cheeses, and...the best cheese danishes,
this side of paris. I'm talking good. really good. rivaled by none.
we spent many a mornings there as teen-agers, devouring these delicacies, consuming more pastries in a week than one should consume in a
lifetime, and had the double chins to prove it.
years later, when I had babies, we traded
cheese danishes for melt in your mouth
dried cherry scones. she'd come home from college and we'd load up
itty bitty Savannah and Sydney and head to Oliver T's, where we'd
savor our scones and hot coffee while browsing
susan branch merchandise...
a huge phase of ours (susan branch),
that in a way, we've never left.
we wanted to move to nantucket, buy clapboard houses,
and never leave them,
except to go to each others.
and now she's coming here, and me thinks we should make a cheese
danish stop and relive the old days.
can't wait to see her...

I can't think of a better way to spend some time than with a sister and a yummy pastry. Both are good for the soul!!! Have a happy time.

i can feel the memories right now...

the first year i homeschooled(aak) i went there WAY too much...and all i remember is the RELIEF. the aroma of cinnamon chip scones and chai tea...tears. such relief, and letdown in comfort food. food so good you wanna cry.

Oli T's... I always feel like I'm in a classier world when I walk in their doors. I used to my my clove smokes there- even though they charged $1 more than anywhere else- I just loved going in there :)
I need like 5 grand to satisfy my buying itch there- talk about wine & beer selection.
Pastries::drooling::

I hope you have a blast <3

so, i'm sitting at dad's computer and he has his total dad-sap music on and now i'm a mess of tears. helped by the interruption for laughter over the cheese danish chins. years it took...and a lot of hard work to remove the damage of oliver t's. we are escaping tomorrow morning...or tonight...for oliver t's. i can't wait till you get here. there was something so huge missing last night. you. love you.
and hail to susan branch.

awwww....sisters.....

love mine and miss them lots.

you guys savor every moment of not having to explain yourself, not having to be polite, not having to make someone "get it", not having to make excuses for yourself, and not having a care in the world but to be together and eat pastries and drink coffee...

makes me miss my sissies....

Well, Kelle and her family are high in the skies returning home to Florida, Bub and Dahna are recovering at their home, and Carin is just getting back from work, after a late night of love, laughter and a hot tub only to get up early in the morning to make it to work....and I...I shed thankful tears with warm memories of a weekend of love...just love...and lights, and laughter...and children who are still children--my children...and these little babies who were such a wonderful audience for holiday magic then, have morphed into such creative, deep and just delicious humans...or are they dancers? I love them so!
