My weekend began with a pity party. When I had had enough, I picked myself up, blared some Madonna, and broke out the Lacura Beauty, compliments of Aldi Discount Grocery.  Feeling my fierceness return, I met up with a friend in Old Town for PBR and live music.   Awoke Saturday morning to a call from Kathy who commanded my presence at the MSU homecoming tailgate.  I obliged, dressing quickly and grabbing a coffee as I headed for campus.  I took mental pictures as I walked...the marching band, getting louder as I neared the stadium...sweatshirted almuni carrying thermoses filled with warm goodness...bright leaves, up above and underfoot.  I found Kathy and together we joined old friends and met new ones.  And it was bliss.  Every bit of it.  The game ended.  We went out on the field.  I'm still not even sure how it happened, other than the hook-up gene and a man named Eagle.  And it didn't stop there.  Our fun moved from the stadium to Dublins, a hip Irish pub on campus, where I ran into my fabulous cousins Drew and Maddie.  And Gerard Butler.  Yes.  Gerard Butler.

Fast forward.  Monday.  Mom came to town for Sav's volleyball game.  Afterwards, we went to dinner, just my mom and I.  It was the bomb.  She treated.  Glass of wine, creme brulee, the whole shabang. "Isn't this so much fun?" she said.  And it was.

Fast forward.  Tuesday.  I gave my speech.

For now, I'm tired and off to bed.
More about my speech later.
Along with another photoshoot.

Fierce doesn't even touch you. From a heap of tears to winning your first attempt at this speech thing. There isn't even a word strong enough, brave enough, or beautiful enough.

Congrats on the speech! How can this be so meaningful to say to someone I don't even know? Because you deserve it regardless of who it comes from. You are an inspiration.

Way to go on your speech! And it sounds like you made some great memories...aside from the lying on the floor incident! Loved the pictures :)

Happy Wednesday!

MANY CONGRATS on your speech! Very fine rising above, too, especially since you say you began your ascent from the floor. No other place to start from but where we are, eh?

Kudos!
Susan

p.s. Outstanding blog entry. Simple first sentence and the rest just flows. Carry on, fierce writer woman!

This is why I have always loved you. Because after you cry you pick yourself up and wear Aldi makeup. Carin, you inspire me to be optomistic about life. You deserve all the happies you can get out of this crazy life.

Seriously! I just love you! :)

Oh. My. God. Thank u. Thank u & tons 'o more thanks to posting a beautiful collage to my MSU Spartans!!! I think I may have passed out for a minute or two from the excitement. You KNOW how I love The Green & White...BEST 6 years of my life! (Kidding, I was actually on the 5 year plan...hahahaha).

Ahhh...to mentally relive those moments, days, everlasting friendships I had/made, some for life, in East Lansing. And in the mid to late 80's too!!!

Sweet!!!

Your pictures always tell a story, Carin, they illuminate a special light within you, as you tell your own story through not only your beautiful words, but through your pictures, as well. They really took me back...thank you friend!

Oh, and PS: Creme Brulee is my fave!!! I found myself starting to (think about...I did not actually do it...I SWEAR!) lick the damn screen.

That is until I looked up and saw my dog, Scout & my cat, Sophie looking at me and then each other like: "Maybe she needs to be put down and out of her misery now." Thank the Lord they cannot talk. Nonetheless, I felt compelled to mention to them that "We will NEVER speak, bark, meow what happened here today. With the awesome shot of Carin's Creme Brulee."

I really did not lick the screen. Really. Did not. I swear!
