8am...the sun arrives at my bedroom window like unexpected inlaws at the door of a messy house. I am not ready. It is negative eight degrees outside and presumably, negative seven in my apartment. But, I...am warm and toasty under my covers. "Lay down," I say to my dog, hoping for just a few more minutes of sleepy bliss.
But, alas, the dog wins and I awaken. I cannot say no to this face, regardless of my recently destroyed down comforter. and pillow. and bathroom wall trim.
After feeding the dog and starting my coffee, laundry is next on the agenda because I am wearing dirty socks.
My growing amaryllis and prayer flags from Rosa make me happy.

And now,
it is time for homework.
Happy Sunday.

absolutely gorgeous. your photos make my heart smile. (and who could not love that puppy face?)
Your place is so empty and open and bright. I'm inspired to get rid of some of my clutter.
I love the sunshine/dog shots...makes my day a bit brighter!
i love your pup!
Beautiful Carin! I am smiling! What a perfect Sunshine Sunday...your pics and positive energy always inspire me.
Hey I've got prayer flags like that in my office!
Your doggie is so cute! Her eyes are beautiful! When Wanda was little, she would always want to get up before me, so I would pretend to be asleep and it would trick her into lying down for another 30 min. or so, haha! Now she loves to sleep in, esp. if it is cold out. I feel lucky and happy about that!
Did you make your mug? It is so cool!!

I IS freezing here, isn't it?! Love your flags! Happy studying!
What is a prayer flag? They look so pretty.
Love the prayer flags!
First time I ever saw prayer flags was at a Arlo Guthrie concert. They were hanging outside the church (of Alice's Restaurant fame)which now houses human services programs and fantastic concerts!
Peace!

Hi there... been a long, LONG time since I've been to your blog. Your writing is just as great as I remember, and the photos you post are just as fabulous... and I still think "Boy, she's SUCH a cool chick! I bet we'd be friends if she lived in Atlanta!" :)
And, of course, I couldn't HELP but notice you now have a dog. Not just ANY dog, but a Chocolate Lab. You do know, don't you, that Chocolate Labs are cleverly disguised Weapons of Mass Destruction....? :)
We also have a Chocolate Lab... her name is Diva (short for "Lady Godiva"... get it?)... I could give you a laundry list of things she has DESTROYED, but this comment would go on for days...
Suffice it to say that one must be PATIENT and full of love to deal with Labs (and Diva is our 3rd, and WORST... )
Anyway, just wanted to pop by and say hi. Sounds like things are going well in your world... I know as a single mom it's sometimes like a crazy carnival ride, but you have no choice but to keep going. I think you're doing a great job.
And I'll try to come visit your blog more regularly. Your writing and photos are definitely worth it!

Sun...God's small consolation gift for sending us the brain freezing cold! Lady looks so innocent in these photos...I think she was framed for all the naughtiness! Your morning looks enchanting, photographable, memorable in an exquisitely ordinary light...and isn't that how we should see it all. It is like the appropriate music in the background--it can even make "There is a 1986 red Pontiac parked in a no-parking zone, please move it before it is towed," sound profound. So are the ordinary moments of our life when we contemplatively put them in a frame. Celebrate Sunday. Love you!

I haven't been by for a visit this week, and sure enough after a long day of homework I thought I would curl up and visit. Looks like our Sunday's were very similar, just 1 week apart. I love that the sunbeams are shining bright and filling your already warm home with a little bit of extra sunshine...we all can use a little more. Wishing you a happy, beautiful, honest week. :)
Love, love, love the chocolate lab. They are the best dogs. We lost our sweet 14 year old chocolate lab, Blaze, to cancer right before Christmas. Your pictures brought back memories and made me smile.
really really
sick of the sun!
