"When we are alone on a starlit night, when by chance we see the migrating birds in autumn descending on a grove of junipers to rest and eat; when we see children in a moment when they are really children, when we know love in our own hearts; or when, like the Japanese poet, Basho, we hear an old frog land in a quiet pond with a solitary splash - at such times the awakening, the turning inside out of all values, the "newness," the emptiness and the purity of vision that make themselves evident, all these provide a glimpse of the cosmic dance." I love Merton :-) If you haven't read "New Seeds of Contemplation", you'd like it.
Nature is so staggeringly beautiful! The photos are exquisite.
This is beautiful. . .
Beautiful pictures, Carin! Very "National Geographic"!
Where do you find these things?!
Sleepy Hollow State Park...here in Michigan...not far from me at all.
I think I have New Seeds of Contemplation :)
Beautiful photos!
Love your buggie/froggie pics. Thanks for posting on my blog and taking the time to check it out. That was really cool of you.
Carin~
Writing the dream forces us to live it.

30 posts in 30 days? where are they? I'm not giving you a hard time... just encouraging you to commit. Not just quotes, YOU are more interesting than the things you copy from others. Really.
To "Anonymous" @5:03: (aka The Internet Police. He/She "backtraces" stuff too)
Are you serious?
What a pathetic nincompoop you are. Do you sit in your mom's basement all day & troll other sites too, just to make sure that every blogger the world over "keeps up" with his/her blogging on a daily basis?
Are you that much of a complete dolt simply because she has not blogged in a few days so you're keeping track?!? It has not been months or years, mind you, a few DAYS!!! She does NOT owe you, me or any reader an "explanation" to take a few days off from blogging. Yet, somehow I picture someone like you with a GINORMOUS calendar marking off the days she has & has not blogged. And then becoming so discombobulated simply because her blog has been quiet a FEW days. GAWD.
I'm going to break it down for you, type & spell & use correct grammar carefully so you understand because you are probably the type that moves your lips when reading (hey, Copernicus, if you become stumped on any big words, look 'em up yourself)
And, here's the thing, it's HER blog, not "Anonymous's" blog. People like you who hide behind the cowardly (in this circumstance) "anonymous" screen name, are truly hysterical & a person like you alway bring the crazy when you can "criticize" behind the anonymous moniker. It's so very easy to hide behind a keyboard, don't you agree?
So, Einstein, here's a thought: start your own blog!!! And, in the midst of everyday life, work, bills, economy worries, kids, marriage (I'll let that go, its too easy...) just everyday life AND find the time to fill a blank screen with words for friends, family & the general public. Words of inspiration, honest & true, thoughts, ideas, clever anecdotes. AND, do all of that while raising 3 girls as a single, working mom.
I triple dog dare ya!!!
Unbelievable.
LOL!!! That was just awesome, Holly! Well said. Please tell me that you have a blog--because if you do, I am so there as a reader!! :)

Hi mommy of two girls!!!
Why, thank you darlin'! No, I do not have a blog. I have been thinking about starting one, as I have gone through several HUGE life changes in the past several years that have been beyond profound.
But, alas, I'm at that stage where I self-doubt and go: "Um, who in their right mind would want to hear me blabber away?" Blabber away about: Surviving what life throws at you. All the bad, all the good and certainly all the in-between!
But then, someone comes along to help me cast that aside...a little encouragement goes a long way; sometimes that is all it takes. One person to make a difference.
For the sake of disclosure: Carin & I have been chatting back n forth, here n there simply because I love her writing. And her surviving her "story". The chain reaction from her amazing blog has truly been inspiring and a source of strength for me personally.
I have mad respect for that often overlooked & ignored quality: honesty.
Again, please email me at hollyn9679@gmail.com if you'd like to chat...and talk me into starting a blog!!!
This mommy of three looks forward to hearing from you, mommy of two!!! :D
Oh yea, mommy of two, I thought the anonymous "comment" was absolutely ridiculous & downright petty. I mean, in corresponding with Carin, I can tell you she is a very talented creative strong woman with a sweet soul. And for someone to get all "brave"with the anonymous thing & get all bent out of shape over a blog per day for 30 days...I mean, seriously? We are not on the brink of acquiring a formula to achieve peace in the Middle East, or discovering a cure for AIDS or cancer, or hell, no one here is even bothered with figuring out WHAT Sandra Lee's cocktail(s) of choice are which she clearly imbibes, in obvious copious amounts,no doubt, prior to shooting her show (don't get me started)...
It is a blog. I mean, how ridiculous can one person be? Seriously. I wonder, does this person troll the internet just looking for things he based his useless comment on?
Uh-oh, "anonymous", I just ended that last sentence with a preposition...!!!! Oh noooooo!!!
It boggles the mind that there are people out there who actually submit comments such as that dolts. "Anonymous" does not even begin to comprehend the meaning of quotes, the thought provoking, sometimes soul searching and inspiring meaning behind them. Some of the most profound leaders in world history have used words "copied from others" to lead and inspire. To believe that inherently, mankind is good. These "copied" words, in many instances are taken from the BIBLE, too. Those words sustain us during dark hours and lift us to the light of a new day.
Instead this piece of work (that would be you "anonymous", hiding behind your screen) chooses to focus on 30 blogs in 30 days. At least he/she can count. Keep your positives, anonymous. Keep your positives. And your therapist...might be time for a new one. Time to up the voltage babe.
ps: Carin, do ya think Jeffrey sees anonymous....hahahahaha
Holly,
You should totally start a blog! I would definitely read! I like your spunk!! :) And....I couldn't agree with you more regarding CJS - Hi Carin!! - She has such an uplifting attitude and has a gift for writing. I am inspired to be a better person when I read her words.
xoxo
