"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." Picasso
It is late and I'm reflecting on my weekend and one of the highlights...a trip to The Flint Institute of Arts... where we indeed washed away the dust of everyday life as we browsed galleries, laughed hard in the library, lunched in the cafe, and forgot the troubles of the night before.
“Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that will never be again. And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two make four, and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them what they are? We should say to each of them: Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. Your legs, your arms, your clever fingers, the way you move. You may become a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything. Yes, you are a marvel. And when you grow up, can you then harm another who is, like you, a marvel? You must work, we must all work, to make the world worthy of its children.” Picasso

great quote all right. Man, it reinforces how lucky and priviledged I am to be a mom and get my own little kid to marvel in.

Great quotes. You are making your life a work of art, in your inquiry, in your practice, in your willingness to dive deep within yourself and to see the light, and to see the shadow.
You are Courage.
Respect, man.
You ARE a marvel, girlie. And an inspiration. Here's an update, as to why I think so: I think I am getting my groove back. I have been dancing 'round the house since we text back n forth yesterday, I (assumed, optimistically) you would be waiting with baited breath to hear how I have graduated from a wildebeast with a massive case of polio, having a severe stroke to boot, I may be getting my dancing groove BACK baby!!!
Oh yeah...I just knoooowww you were waiting to hear how after catching a glimpse of myself doin' a little house cleaning, listening to my disco mix & groovin' to the Bee Gee's "Jive Talkin" & as I caught a glimpse of this "dance"in the mirror, to my complete horror, I nearly had a seizure, crawled into a fetal position cuz I thought I had "lost it" (interpret however you like)...and thought "I never used to dance this waaayyyyy". Oh dear Lord. Of course, I had to share, I had to share...and once again, your laughter, and being "gotten" got me through my minor, yet oh-so-important at the time crisis. Hahahahaha.....
Car, I continue to be inspired by your laughter, your bravado, your reality, your HONESTY and, seriously, the absolute coolness that is you in your adventures with the girls at the Flint Institute of Arts...BRAVO girl.
You KNOW you are already on my personal hero list. You are stuck there. If you don't want to be, well, too bad. Deal. Hahahaha!!!
I truly admire your bravery Carin.
xoxoxo
PS: to clarify...I LOOKED like when I was dancing around the house, catching a glimpse, I became in my "dance"/"boogie" a wildebeast with polio having a stroke all at the same time. THAT is what "my groove" had come to...Good God!!!
Many thanks again for laughing at me, but it made me happy to know you were cracking up...heeheehee
I found you through Kelle's blog, which I adore. And since your blog was her inspiration (she says so in her first-ever post), I figured I should check you out. And I'm glad I did. You now have 127 stalkers, I mean followers.
I love the pictures of you and your girls. Thank you for sharing your family with all of us. And as Lainey would say, Merry Kimmif.
Run on.
I had never heard of this quote from Picasso and have to say I am impressed. A real genius, not only of paint and brush. Thank you.
